Getting Kids Involved in the Community

Children are the leaders of tomorrow's communities. Nearly every action we take day to day affects the future world our children will inherit. Although they aren’t in charge just yet, kids can still make a big difference in both the future and the current lives of others.

We want to encourage more kids to be involved with their communities. All too often, there is always a catch or a physical reward given to kids in exchange for good deeds; and while this is great to teach our kids the meaning of earning, oftentimes the children don’t get to see the most natural reward of all, visible change. Let’s teach our kids the value of kindness, and the selfless values that come with doing good, Juzt Because.

How Kids Can Get Involved

There are many ways we can involve children in our cause. Most importantly, being able to give back should be a fun experience for kids, so here are some ways you can help your kids be a part while having a great time:

Bagged Items

Nearly everything, even your walls, can be turned into an arts and crafts project for your kids. When getting your children involved with giving back, let their creativity shine! Start with a large paper grocery bag, and let your child write and draw a message on it. This should be done before the bag is filled, as it will be the easiest to design while flat.

From the bright abstract drawings to the trademark handwriting of a kid’s heartfelt message, a donation bag can be turned into a much more thoughtful gift. After the bag is designed, allow the child to fill up the bag with any needed items. Once the bag is full you can disperse to people in need, or contact Juzt Because to pickup your donation and find it a home.

Gift Cards

No matter the situation someone is in, everyone could benefit from a gift card for food and groceries. Get your kids involved by allowing them to pick out four to five gift cards for fast food or grocery stores like Walmart.

By giving your children the choice of where the gift card is for, it will feel like a much more personal gift. Although it’s great to give kids freedoms, make sure the card is still usable in the surrounding area. Likewise, ensure the card is for a place that offers value, not Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Get an envelope for the card, and just like the bag decoration, allow the kids to draw a message on the envelope. Just don’t forget to decorate the envelope before adding the card!

If the gift cards are being given to the homeless, place the card in a bag of socks, small toiletries, or inside of a small blanket! Getting kids involved in the giving process will be sure to make an impact for your child, sometimes the best lesson is one we give ourselves.

Get Involved, Juzt Because.

Getting children involved with the community is one of the most rewarding things you can do as a parent. Although, kids aren’t able to help us pick up and deliver the bags by car, as they can’t drive! You can be the hands to pass someone’s blessing to them. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact us today, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
